About me
I studied Biology with Chemistry specialization at Utrecht University and received my MSc in Molecular Biology (cum laude) and my PhD in Molecular Genetics (cum laude) from Utrecht University and subsequently did post-doctoral research at the University of California at Berkeley with an EMBO long term fellowship. I returned to Utrecht University with a KNAW senior research fellowship and later was appointed professor of Molecular Plant Biology, a position I held for 25 years. Administrative services at Utrecht University included Director of Education and Board member of the Biology Department, and Vice-Dean and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Science. In 2021, a Royal Decoration (Officier in de Orde van Oranje Nassau) was awarded to me. After moving to the province of Zeeland, I was appointed Dean ad interim of University College Roosevelt, located in the center of the beautiful and ancient town of Middelburg.
