Hi! My name is Katherine. I’m from the U.S. but I’ve lived in France for most of my life, and am also Swiss and Vietnamese. I’m in my third year at UCR with an interdepartmental major in history, sociology, and rhetoric. I decided on UCR because I wanted to stay at a small-scale school and because, given the fact that I had no idea what I wanted to do, I didn’t have to decide on one sole thing to study. I liked how UCR advertised their curriculum. I’ve also been in various societies and teams at UCR, so I’m able to get more involved in the community. It’s such a tight-knit community, so you always have someone there. It’s our own little community inside of another little community. It’s cozy. There have been great opportunities here to help diversify our community, and I get to hear so many different perspectives. Though we’ve created our own bubble, there’s never a day that goes by where I don’t meet someone I’ve never seen before.
