I am Saswot Shankar Shrestha. I come from Nepal, the land of the Himalayas. There, I live in the capital city, Kathmandu. I am interested in the areas of social sciences, particularly political science.
One of the reasons I chose UCR for my undergraduate studies is because UCR provides the flexibility in selecting courses. That means the institution allows each student to blend and create their own set of ways to achieve education. This aspect relates to my requirement while I was looking for a university. That is because, by the end of high school, I had developed interests in the field of sociology and psychology. However, I wanted to a peruse a career in the area of international relations and politics. The only way I could blend my learning and interest was by applying to UCR.
For my future prospectus, I want to become a diplomat at the United Nations in charge of handling relations between countries and the wider world and serving the humanitarian crisis. I would like to work for the underdogs in our society and improve how social structure predetermines a minority group’s failure. I believe that UCR allows me to excel not only in academics but also in achieving knowledge and insight that enable me to understand the world of global politics.
Middelburg is a small city in the province, Zeeland, but international. Everything is in the vicinity of the capital, which makes student life much easier. When it comes to the daily activity at UCR, every day is unique. Moving in has been one of the most highlighted experiences. These involved meeting new people and setting up my new room.
