The graduation speaker for the Class of 2025 is Nicolas Castillon. Nicolas is currently Director at a global cybersecurity incident response firm leading the European market. After graduating at UCR, he went on to do a Master’s in Crisis and Security Management. His career in Cybersecurity started in the knowledge sector, having worked at Leiden University’s Center for Counter-Terrorism, The Hague Center for Strategic Studies, the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro and UNDP’s Crisis Prevention Unit in New York City. He then jumped over to the private sector and joined the System Integrator sector working on complex and large-scale projects at organizations such as the European Space Agency and the European Commission. Most recently he was practice lead for a major Global systems integrator leading their Nordics Cybersecurity practice.
During the ceremony, around 25 students will receive their Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. This is a very international graduating class, with 18 nationalities represented. The majority of graduates will first take some time off before continuing with a Master’s program, ranging from Psychology to Archaeology and from Music Composition to Public Health. We hope to see them achieve their goals all over the world, with Utrecht, Cape Town and Mumbai amongst their destinations.
