UCR runner-up for Best Memorial at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition
UCR runner-up for Best Memorial at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition
UCR participated in the Dutch national rounds of the prestigious Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, organized by Leiden University in The Hague. The team — consisting of Isabella Confalone, Léa Labat, Marlena Samson, and Nele Kaufmann — and coached by Dr. Moritz Baumgärtel and International Officer Chelsea Azumah, won the runner-up award for Best Memorials. This achievement placed them ahead of four teams from Amsterdam, Leiden, Rotterdam, and Tilburg, most of which consisted of LLM students. This marked the fifth time that UCR has been represented in this competition, and the second time that it won an award.
Through their participation in the oral pleadings, as well as the preparation of two memorials and a final paper, the four students are well on their way to completing their senior projects, with a view to graduating at the end of the term. If you are a second-year student and interested in participating in the Jessup Moot Court or PAX Moot Court Competition as part of your SEPR next year, please send a letter of motivation to Dr. Moritz Baumgärtel and Dr. Jason Dinse by the end of Week 5.
