Our tutors are there to support your student journey

At UCR, you’re never on your academic journey alone. From day one, every student is assigned a Tutor—a faculty member who supports you throughout your time at UCR. Your tutor is there to help you navigate your academic choices, set priorities, and keep your progress aligned with your personal and educational goals.
Tutors meet with you regularly to reflect on your development, both academically and personally. You’ll discuss your successes and setbacks, evaluate your study habits, and explore new strategies to get the most out of your learning experience. Your tutor also plays a key role in guiding you through your Liberal Arts & Sciences Portfolio, helping you track your achievements and growth over the course of your degree.
In addition to academic support, your tutor is often your first point of contact for student wellbeing. They are there to listen, offer advice, and connect you with the right resources, both within UCR and through external support networks, if you are facing challenges in your studies or in other areas of life.
