What We Do
What We Do
As the executive leadership of UCR, the Executive Board is legally and strategically responsible for the overall running of the college. This includes ensuring the institution functions effectively; academically, organizationally, and financially. The Executive Board sets the strategic agenda, monitors its implementation, and works closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure the college remains future-oriented and responsive to internal and external developments.
Shared governance
Shared governance
Before taking decisions on matters that affect the whole college, the Dean and Managing Director confers, discusses and consults with the Management Team, which consists of the Director of Education, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation, and Student Assessor. The Director of Education is chairperson of the Board of Studies and has a delegated responsibility for the development and the quality of the academic program and admissions decisions. Director of Strategic Initiatives and Innovation Strengthens UCR’s external positioning, project funding, and enables strategic development and innovation. The student assessor has an advisory role in the Management team, and is an important channel for enhancing its interaction with the student population.
The Executive Board regularly engages the UCR Council or the UCR Program Committee for their advice, and in certain cases their formal consent, before reaching a final decision. The Council, in collaboration with the Executive Board, organizes regular meetings for the whole community.
The Executive Board is formally accountable to the UCR Board of Trustees, which supervises the college’s governance and performance. In addition, the Executive Board is accountable to the Executive Board of Utrecht University with respect to the academic quality and delivery of UCR’s program.
