Andrew Brooks Entrance Scholarships in Science
University College Roosevelt is pleased to announce the introduction of the Andrew Brooks Entrance Scholarships in Science, a new scholarship initiative made possible through the generous support of Dr. Andrew Brooks, retired UCR professor of Computer Science.
Andrew Brooks taught Computer Science at UCR between 2015 and 2023. He looks back at his time at UCR as an amazing and rewarding college to work at, where students challenge their teachers as much as the teachers challenge their students. By establishing and funding these scholarships, Brooks aims to encourage talented students with a strong interest in science and to support them at the start of their academic journey at UCR.
Human civilization faces enormous challenges as this century unfolds. Science will help us solve these challenges. The science education on offer at UCR is very much what is needed. This is why I have chosen to gift the scholarships.
Each year, ten Andrew Brooks Entrance Scholarships in Science are awarded to European students with an interest in pursuing the sciences at UCR. Each scholarship has a value of €1,200, which is paid out in instalments over the course of the student’s first year.
More information about the Andrew Brooks Entrance Scholarships in Science, as well as other scholarships offered by UCR, can be found on our scholarship page.
