Our Impact
Our Impact
At University College Roosevelt, we believe that education can have meaningful impact. Not in grand gestures, but in steady, lasting ways: in how people think, how communities grow, and how connections are made between knowledge and action.
Over the past 20 years, UCR has contributed to the development of liberal arts and sciences in the Netherlands, supported the ambitions of hundreds of students, and helped strengthen ties between education and society; here in Zeeland, and far beyond.

On Liberal Arts and Sciences Education
On Liberal Arts and Sciences Education
As one of the first colleges in the Netherlands to offer a fully English-taught liberal arts and sciences program, UCR helped introduce a new educational model; one that values flexibility, interdisciplinary, and personal ownership.
More than 20 years later, we’re still evolving. Our current curriculum brings together structured learning with responsive, real-world engagement that reflects the changing needs of students and the world they’ll help shape.

On Our Students
On Our Students
Every student who passes through UCR leaves with more than just academic knowledge. They leave with a broader perspective, sharper thinking, and a better understanding of who they are and what they value.
Our small-scale, supportive environment helps students grow intellectually, socially, and personally. That growth may look different for everyone, but it’s always real, and often lasting.

On Zeeland
On Zeeland
As the only research university (WO) in the province, UCR has become part of Zeeland’s educational and social landscape. Through internships, research projects, and partnerships, students and faculty contribute to the region’s vitality; not in headlines, but in everyday ways that add up over time.
We are proud to be here, and proud to be part of Zeeland’s story.

On Middelburg
On Middelburg
Middelburg is not just where UCR is located; it’s where our students live, learn, and connect. Our presence brings energy, diversity, and creativity to the city centre. In return, Middelburg offers our community a rich cultural setting and a strong sense of place.
Our relationship with the city is close, personal, and mutual – shaped by dialogue, cooperation, and shared commitment.

On Our Partners
On Our Partners
UCR works closely with partners across sectors, from local government and cultural organizations to research institutes and social initiatives. These relationships are essential to how we teach, learn, and grow.
Our partners help bring context, challenge, and relevance to our work. And together, we find ways to link knowledge with practice, and students with the world beyond campus.

On the World – Through Our Alumni
On the World – Through Our Alumni
UCR alumni live and work across the globe where they are continuing their studies, building careers, and contributing to the communities they’re part of. They bring with them an education rooted in curiosity, responsibility, and the ability to think across boundaries.
Their paths are diverse, but their impact is clear: thoughtful, informed, and engaged in the world around them.
