Etienne de Jager, MA

Originally from Namibia, I’ve lived and worked across six countries and have called the Netherlands home since 2017. I joined University College Roosevelt (UCR) in 2020 as Head of Marketing, Communications and Recruitment, and became Managing Director in 2022. UCR is the kind of institution I wish I could have attended—small, diverse, international, open, tolerant, and closely connected to its local and provincial communities. Its reach extends far beyond Middelburg, with alumni making a difference around the world. I believe our interdisciplinary curriculum is pioneering among liberal arts and sciences programs, and our beautiful campus—set in a historic medieval city—makes UCR a truly unique place to live and learn. Before joining UCR, I held marketing and business development roles at InnoEnergy (a pan-European KIC of the European Institute for Innovation and Technology), Rotterdam School of Management, and Bayes Business School. I hold a BA in Communication Studies, a BA (Hons) in Development Studies, and an MA in Digital Technologies, Communication and Education. I’m a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (FCIM) and currently pursuing a part-time degree in Egyptology. In my free time, I enjoy gardening, beading, painting, writing, travelling, and all things autumn and rainy.
