Dr. Helle Hochscheid

About me
About me
Helle Hochscheid teaches archaeology, ancient literature and cultural heritage. A main interest of hers is craft production in the ancient world. In recent years she has linked this ancient past to the present day, investigating the power of craft and craft communities in the modern world. This has resulted in student-driven projects in experimental archaeology, community heritage and undergraduate research conferences in Middelburg and on location. Another focus of her interest lies in the legal and ethical issues surrounding cultural heritage, for example, the protection of heritage in situations of conflict and the restitution of looted artefacts to their countries of origin.
