Computer & Data Science Pathway
Computer & Data Science Pathway
Your route to
- Programming
- Data Sciences
- Digital Innovation
If you are interested in programming, data, and digital innovation, the Computer & Data Science Pathway gives you a rigorous foundation in computational thinking, data analysis, and algorithmic reasoning. You learn how data is structured, how information can be processed efficiently, and how computational tools can be used to address complex scientific and real-world problems.
Pathways: not a separate program or a fixed bachelor track, but a way to guide your course choices within UCR’s flexible curriculum.
You take courses in Computer Science, Programming, Data Science, Algorithms, Mathematics, and Statistics, and can deepen your expertise through electives in areas such as artificial intelligence, logic, and applied data techniques. These courses help you develop strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience working with large and varied datasets.
Throughout the pathway, you learn to translate real-world questions into computational frameworks, evaluate data-driven solutions, and reflect on the societal implications of digital technologies. The Liberal Arts & Sciences context allows you to apply computational methods across disciplines, from science and business to the social sciences and humanities.
This pathway prepares you for selective master’s programs in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, and computational research fields.
Degree: Bachelor of Science (BSc)
