Pre-Medical Pathway
Pre-Medical Pathway
Your route to
- Medicine
- Biomedical Sciences
- Health
- Life Science Research
If you are interested in medicine, biomedical sciences, health, or life-science research, the Pre-Medical Pathway allows you to build a strong foundation in the biological and medical sciences. You explore health and disease from molecular, cellular, physiological, and population perspectives, and your preparation will be comparable to entry-level coursework in biomedical and medical fields.
Pathways: not a separate program or a fixed bachelor track, but a way to guide your course choices within UCR’s flexible curriculum.
You take courses such as Human Physiology, Molecular Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Mechanisms of Disease, Epidemiology & Public Health, Life Sciences, Data Science, and Statistics. Together, these courses help you understand how the human body functions, how diseases develop, how treatments work, and how biomedical research is designed and analyzed.
Along the way, you learn to interpret scientific literature, work with quantitative data, and connect insights across different levels of biological organization. You combine this pathway with courses from other disciplines, allowing you to broaden your perspective and tailor your program to your specific interests.
This pathway prepares you for advanced study and careers in medicine, biomedical research, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, public health, and related health fields.
